Which Wrinkle Cream is the Best
October 31st, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedWhen you are fighting to look as young and healthy as possible, you always want to make the right choices to maximize your results, and for many this means asking the question why are some wrinkle creams better than others?
Although this question - which wrinkle cream is the best - seems to have an obvious answer, it is important to put some thought into it. That is because anti-wrinkle products abound, perhaps numbering into the thousands. Therefore it becomes very difficult to select the ideal anti-aging product.
To find the best cream to fight wrinkles, you need to know what works and what does not, what is safe and what might be risky. Of course you also need to consider your personal situation and needs, such as allergies to certain things and the all important issue of your budget.
First, consider what causes wrinkles. Exposure to the sun causes damage from UV rays that changes cell structure and causes mutations. This also increases the chances of skin cancers developing. With aging, the supporting tissues and collagen loose elasticity and allow sagging, lines and wrinkles to form. Medications and toxic substances we ingest can also cause damage, and one of the worst wrinklers is smoking tobacco.
Obviously, it is also very important to be healthy, since healthy skin is not too likely in an unhealthy body. You need a healthy diet, exercise, adequate rest, and stress control. Some of the causes of wrinkling can be avoided by not smoking and by using sunscreen faithfully to protect from the UV damage.
Adequate water intake is also essential to the skin and the whole body. One component a good wrinkle cream must have is moisturizer, a substance that may add a little extra water to skin, but mostly will help retain the water already there.
Next, select a cream with sunscreen, since UV exposure causes rapid aging. Sunscreens vary and may or may not be safe, depending on whether they are natural or chemical. Select a wrinkle product that has an SPF over 15 so that you can make sure your skin is fully protected.
Why are some wrinkle creams better than others may be mostly due to the use of antioxidants that protect cells from damage and even help repair some of it. It’s important to eat foods rich in antioxidants for cell repair throughout the body, but they can work applied to skin as well. Examples would be Vitamins A and E, lycopenes, and even Vitamin C.
Also look for proteins and collagen but be certain they are in forms the skin can actually absorb. One type that works is the long chain proteins found in aloe vera preparations. A good rule of thumb for avoiding harsh artificial chemicals is to avoid any ingredient you can’t pronounce. If you see this, look it up. Some, like “tocopherols” may just be the technical term for Vitamin E and are OK.
